Konya, a major city in central Turkey, is known for some of the best carpets in the country that have been handwoven using traditional methods hich have been refined over centuries. Influenced by years of cultural exchanges, including Romans, Byzantine, Seljuks and more, Konya carpets entail intricate patterns and motifs that reflect the city’s diverse history.

 

The method, known as a flatweave (Düz Dokuma) involves beating cotton till it turns into something like felted material resulting in softness.

 

Cicim alongside a flatweave technique provides a strong carpet with decorative details. This combination results in a smooth and flat base with raised and textured patterns that bring depth to the design and make them attractive for display purposes.

 

A wool on cotton rug has wool that is tied around a cotton base which combines the durability and softness of wool with the flexibility and strength of a cotton foundation.
